Vision and Employment

As I continue my ten month Americorps experience it becomes increasingly easy to become bitter when fellow graduates receive multinational corporate employment with full salary and benefits. Sustaining a meager Americorps lifestyle is no easy feat and I am continuously tested by the attractions of an escape to the profitable rat race. However, I am constantly reminded by the world around me that succumbing to an "easy" salary would waste the knowledge and subsequent obligation I have to ensure a sustainable and healthy future for our children. Therefore, I know that my lifes unconventional dream calls for unconventional experiences, determination and employment.

This is by no means a low blow to those who work for corporations and chase the mighty dollar. Everyone finds importance and value in the littlest parts of life, everyone has something different to offer. I have insight, knowledge and passion for the future, our generations and our planet. I simply want to fight for, and create, working systems that ensure those who care for the mighty dollar also consider our mighty planet and our future.

There is no large job market for those like myself or many others in this economic climate. I intend to make life my classroom and create my own job opportunities. :-)
